Milestone Executive Team
Gary has been with Milestone since 1998. As Milestones' top executive, Gary oversees all aspects of client programs and services, along with forging and strengthening relationships with referral sources, government agencies and community partners. Prior to joining Milestone, Gary worked as a consultant for Allegheny County and earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Assistant Executive Director of Administration
Ken Wood earned a Master’s degree in social work and is licensed in Pennsylvania. For the past 38 years, Ken has worked in a variety of mental health settings in both the community and hospitals. With Milestone since 1997, Ken is responsible for the overall day-to-day functioning of Milestone Centers.
Director, Health Care Quality Unit Northwest
Darryl Bergstrom joined Milestone Health Care Quality Unit Northwest in 2002. Darryl oversees the day-to-day operations of the HCQU which includes working to support and improve the health information and knowledge for the intellectual disabilities community service system by enhancing the ability to serve those with disabilities within a nine county region. Darryl is certified as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor and a QPR (Question, Persuade & Refer) Suicide Prevention Instructor. He earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Natalie Symons, RN
Director, Health Care Quality Unit West
With Milestone since 2002, Natalie manages the Milestone’s Health Care Quality Unit (HCQU) West. She is responsible for the oversight of the program, which includes development of curriculum, assisting providers who support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities that have complex medical and behavioral needs, and enhancing the ability to serve those with disabilities within a nine county region. Natalie has been a Registered Nurse since 1996.
Director of Quality
With Milestone since 2001, Scott has served as Director of Quality since 2013. In his role, Scott ensures Milestone clients receive services in a manner that best suits them, with dignity and respect; he establishes outcome measures against key operational goals; and oversees program development, process improvement, and quality assurance. He has earned a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Assistant Executive Director of Intellectual & Developmental Disability Services
Stacey Dowden oversees Milestone Centers Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Services, including residential and vocational programs provided to Milestone clients in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties. A Milestone team member since 1991, Stacey’s previous roles have included Director of Quality and Compliance, Employment and Vocational Services Director, and Employment Specialist.
Stacey earned a degree in Human Development and Family Studies.
Assistant Executive Director of Behavioral Health and Drug & Alcohol Services
David has been a Milestone team member since 1997. His responsibilities include oversight of all levels of case management, hospital and forensic liaison services, representative payee services, and emergency services. David also chairs Milestone’s policy committee. He holds a Master's Degree in Public Health.
Director of Mental Health Rehabilitation
Dave has more than 30 years of human service experience. Part of the Milestone team since 1996, he oversees Milestone’s mental health rehabilitation program, which encompasses the Mental Health Residential Program, Peer Support Program, Partial Hospitalization and Social Rehabilitation. Dave has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and holds a Master’s of Public Administration.
